Specification Modification Review Image 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Sport
The Land Rover Range Rover Sport is a premium SUV that represents a shift in focus for this SUV-oriented luxury brand. While traditional Land Rover models have combined unbeatable off-road performance with the amenities of a luxury sedan, the Range Rover Sport represents Land Rovers first entry into the burgeoning high-performance SUV arena. It is designed to offer sporty road manners and traditional Land Rover luxury without completely sacrificing the go-anywhere abilities of other Land Rover models.Despite its name, the Range Rover Sport is actually a modified and shortened version of the old Land Rover LR3. As such, the Sport is the smallest and most nimble SUV in the companys lineup. Overall, it is an enjoyable and luxurious vehicle to drive as well as look at. Shoppers seriously interested in getting maximum on-road performance out of an SUV would probably be better served by a few of this Land Rovers competitors, however, as they are able to deliver better acceleration and handling.
Land Rover introduced the new 2010 Range Rover Sport as it comes with three all new engines, a 3.0 liter twin turbo diesel, 5.0 liter V8 petrol and a high performance supercharged petrol. The most significant changes on the 2010 Range Rover Sport are to its powertrains. The vehicle benefits from two powerful new engines: 510bhp LR-V8 5.0-liter supercharged and a 375bhp LR-V8 5.0 liter naturally aspirated engine. The 2010 Range Rover Sport also comes with new systems such as Adaptive Dynamics and the addition of the road-focused Dynamic program to the Terrain Response system and further improvements to the Terrain Response system ensure that off-road capability is kept at the expected class-leading level.

Honda rolls out 2013 Activa Aviator and Dio
Honda scooters gain engine upgrades, new paint schemes.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has updated its Activa, Aviator and Dio scooters for 2013. This Honda trio share a four-stroke, 109cc, single-cylinder and air-cooled engine that makes a maximum power output of 8bhp at 7500rpm, and peak torque of 0.89kgm at 5500rpm. All scooters now use new Honda Eco Technology (HET). HET is new engine technology co-developed with Honda R&D based in Japan, Thailand and Manesar, India. Improved combustion is available within these engines, thanks to better, nickel spark-plugs and optimised inlet ports. Internal friction levels have dropped for use of an offset crankshaft, low-tension piston rings, improved bearing oil-seals and lightened engine internals. Within the gearbox, pulley converter ratios are tweaked for better fuel-efficiency, without any power sacrifice. Honda will hereafter use HET engines on two-wheelers ranging from 110cc through to 1200cc.
New colours have been added to the scooter range, the Dio to be sold in a yellow option, while the Activa gets an extra metallic purple colour and Aviator a new golden paint scheme. The 2013 Dio is priced at Rs 44,701, the Activa for Rs 47,188 and Aviator for Rs 48,212-Rs 53,531 (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
Honda has also inaugurated their new Honda Technical Centre (HTC) at Manesar. Honda has to date operated separate R&D entities to cater to different requirements for independent two-wheeler, four-wheeler and power products in the various markets they operate in. In a departure to this strategy, the new HTC centre, Manesar marks a new step in global Honda operations. Spread over 10,000 square meters within the existing HMSI Manesar facility, the new technical centre engages 200 engineers including Honda Research & Development India (HRID) and HMSI associates.
The HTC opening in India shows Honda’s solid commitment to our market. In another first for Honda across global operations, the new centre combines integrated systems of design, engineering, purchasing and quality under one roof, enabling local development with higher quality at affordable costs.
The Manesar facility houses an advanced wind tunnel to allow vehicle air-flow simulation. HTC also incorporates other state-of-the-art equipment including a chassis dynamo, bench dynamo and layout machines. HTC Manesar is manned by around 200 engineers, who were key co-developers of the 2013 scooter range. HTC is currently involved in developing several new motorcycles and scooters, slated for future launch in India.
Honda has four new motorcycles and scooters planned for the coming fiscal; one new bike or scooter in every quarter, starting January 2013 right up to March 2014.

Hyundai shows HCD 14 Genesis concept
Shape of hyundai’s future luxury saloons revealed in a concept at the Detroit motor show
Hyundai’s concept car for the Detroit motor show, the HCD-14 Genesis, gives us a preview of what to expect from its future large cars.
The Californian-designed concept will shape the look of its BMW 5-series-rivalling Genesis and its Mercedes S-class competitor, the Equus.
The rear-drive HCD-14 has a much sleeker, sharper look than the firm’s current executive cars, with short overhangs and a coupé-like roofline. The back doors are rear-hinged, with large, brushed aluminium hinges supporting them. The car is powered by a 5.0-litre V8.
Hyundai’s US boss, John Krafick, said he is eager to show the “dynamic driving” of the HCD-14, a recognition of the relatively soft dynamics of the firm’s upper-end offerings.

2012 toyota prius C Road test

Toyota sells far more hybrids than anyone else, thanks mainly to its iconic Prius and its industry-leading (for non plug-ins) 50-mpg EPA Combined mileage rating. But this year, its different; Toyota has rounded out the Prius line with two new body styles. First, theres the Prius V, a larger wagon version, which arrived earlier this model year; and now the 2012 Prius C has arrived, appealing to those who want a simpler, more compact car.
With a more familiar, traditional small-car profile and package, yet the same best-in-class 50-mpg figure (actually 53 mpg city, 46 highway)—matched with a base price of just $19,710—the Prius C should attract a wider swath of value-conscious motorists.

Performance
As with the entire Prius lineup, the 2012 Toyota Prius C is powered by both a traditional gasoline engine and a pair of electric motor-generators. The smaller Prius C makes do with smaller drivetrain components, however. Providing power to the wheels and generators is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 73 horsepower and 82 pound-feet of torque. The two electric motor-generators bring the overall output total to 99 hp. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) routes power to the front wheels. In Edmunds testing, this Prius C accelerated from zero to 60 mph in a rather reluctant 11.3 seconds. Coming to a stop from that speed yielded much better results, as the car does the job in 118 feet, which is about average for compact cars. While power delivery is far from impressive, the crucial numbers here involve miles per gallon and the Prius C is definitely a champ in this respect. The EPA estimates 53 city/46 highway mpg and 50 mpg in combined driving, which is the highest rating in the EPA book for anything other than a high-tech plug-in hybrid. In our testing, we averaged 48.9 mpg.

The trouble comes when you turn your calculating not to the similarly priced, lower-mpg Insight, but to the Yaris. The Cs 17-mpg advantage (50 to 33 combined) comes at a premium of perhaps $4000. At $3.50 per gallon gas, that means itll take exactly one zillion years of typical driving to pay it off. Relative to the medium-priced Prius, or Camry or Fusion Hybrids, both the Insights and Prius Cs hybridization premium seems to be a noticeably bigger proportion of their price.
Getting from the here to there of needing an inexpensive, high mileage car to driving home in a Prius C is like stepping across a wide stream where youll need to rest your weight on a few specific rocks in between. Presumably, one of them is isolating yourself against gas price shocks. Maybe another is caring greatly about CO2 emissions. But one rock ought to be that the car drives adequately well. As the Insight discovered, these stepping stones are sometimes slippery. And thatll be a challenge for the Prius C as well.source:thecarconnection.com,edmunds.com,motortrend.com
